2012 WRX dropped off making a horrible noise on and off. Noticeable amount of oil everywhere around the turbo, very hard cranking. Guessing a main and possible rod bearing.

PROJECT UPDATE 3/29/2026: Removed oil plug and found excessive metal on the magnet, after tearing down found #1 Cylinder Rod was spun and #2 and #4 Main Bearings were smoked. Noticed all vacuum lines were loose along with the inlet to the turbo. Turbo has no play, but will not spin freely, guessing metal in the journal, no pre-filter on banjo. Along with all that the up pipe was separated completely. Full rebuild TBD.






PROJECT UPDATE 4/4/2026: Head breakdown, cleaning, and new seals.




PROJECT UPDATE 4/5/2026: Forged SCAT Rods and Nippon Racing Pistons.




PROJECT UPDATE 4/8/2026: Long block assembled and ready for new Arashi 20G turbo setup.







2009 WRX with a JDM 2.0 swap, had low compression on cylinder 4 coming from the intake side on leak down. Found ring landing completely gone taking out cylinder wall and intake valves not seating.

PROJECT UPDATE 3/20/2026: Will be using a EJ257 donor block and installing new STI Pistons and donor rods, polished crank, and new ACL Race Bearings. Rebuilt the heads with new valve seals and lapped valves for perfect sealing. Should be done this weekend.




PROJECT UPDATE 3/25/2026: Motor is installed and running. Initial break-in was great, oil filter clean and oil was perfect. Customer to will be picking her up this weekend. Thanks to Alex for letting me take the project on.
